Minneapolis Car Rental

Minneapolis, one half of the twin cities, is a wonderful place to visit for business and pleasure. If you’ve got business coming up in Minneapolis, here's what you need to know to put your itinerary together and set yourself up for success.

Everything You Need in Downtown Minneapolis

Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport is just 11 miles from downtown, so you won't have to wait long to get settled and start exploring the city. National Car Rental has a location at each terminal, so you don’t have to travel far before you get on the road.

The convention center is in the heart of downtown and boasts plenty of parking and a large plaza with ample green space so that you can grab some fresh air between meetings. Major hotel chains such as Hilton, Holiday Inn, Hyatt, Best Western, and DoubleTree all have properties nearby.

If you're in town in the winter, keep in mind that the city imposes Winter Parking Restrictions in the event of snow, which means parking is only allowed on the odd-numbered side of the street.

To treat clients or business associates to a great dinner, seal the deal at Murray’s. This restaurant is a Minneapolis icon, serving delicious steaks to multiple generations of residents. If you’re looking to conduct some business over lunch, or just need a break from work, swing by Barrio, a Latin restaurant with big flavors and plenty of options.

Art and Architecture in the Twin Cities

Architecture buffs won't want to miss the Stone Arch Bridge. It was constructed in 1883 and designated a Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1971. Made of granite and limestone, and forming a total of 23 arches, it is the only stone arch bridge ever to have spanned the Mississippi River. Plan to be there at sunset for spectacular views of downtown.

You'll find several excellent museums in Minneapolis, but if you only have time for one, check out the Walker Art Center. Its focus is on American and European modern art, and its sculpture garden is home to Spoonbridge and Cherry, a 1985 piece by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggenthat, which has become something of a city icon.

Before heading home, pick up some souvenirs at the Mall of America, the nation's largest shopping mall. In addition to more than 500 shops, it has an amusement park, an aquarium, a flight simulation center, a movie theater, and more.
