At Enterprise Holdings, Inc. through our subsidiaries operating under the National Car Rental brand ("National"), we respect the privacy of our customers. We have implemented this privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") to explain to you how we use and protect personal information we may gather from or about you when you use this Web Site, our Mobile Site or Mobile App, at our rental locations and from third party sources (collectively Sites). If you are a resident in an EEU member state or Switzerland, EAN Data Services UK Limited is the data controller in respect of this data.

In order to complete your reservation, we may share your information with our network of worldwide licensees located in the United States, Canada, Europe and all National locations in the Caribbean, South America, and Asia, which are owned and operated by independent licensees ("Licensees"). National licensees (Licensee) worldwide are required to identify themselves as an independent National Car Rental Licensee, and are not controlled by us or our Affiliate companies. For these transactions, the Licensee is an independent data controllers and maintains its own Privacy Policy in respect to the data that you provide. You are encouraged to check the Privacy Policy of the Licensee that is applicable to your rental transaction.

By using our Sites, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your information, as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use our Sites.

National has received TRUSTe's Privacy Seal signifying that this privacy statement and our practices have been reviewed for compliance with the TRUSTe program viewable on the validation page available by clicking the TRUSTe seal.

The TRUSTe program covers only information that is collected through this Web site,, and does not cover information that may be collected through our mobile applications.

    As a general rule, you will not be required to provide personally identifiable information as a condition of browsing our Sites. You may provide us with certain information in connection with a transaction or in your interactions with our Web sites, mobile sites and at our rental locations. This information may include but is not limited to your:

    • email address
    • frequent flyer number
    • driver's license number and expiration date
    • date of birth
    • credit card or debit card numbers
    • user name and password
    • membership and corporate ID numbers

    We may access location based information from your mobile device while searching for a location in the area in which you have expressed interest. We do not use this information to specifically locate you for any reason other than to provide you the service. If you do not wish to allow us to use your location information then please do not use the service. If you have allowed us to utilize your location information in the past and wish to revoke the permissions to do so please turn off location services at the device level. Failing to provide requested information will not inhibit your ability to browse the Sites, but it may prevent you from being able to complete certain transactions or receive certain services from us.


    As part of the standard operation of our Sites, certain information may be automatically provided to our Web servers by your computer. For each visitor to our Sites, our Web server automatically recognizes the visitors domain name or IP address (where possible), but not the visitors email address. An IP address is a number assigned to your computer when you connect to the Internet. As part of the protocol of the Internet, Web servers can identify your computer by its IP address. In addition, we may collect your browser type and operating system. We collect similar information as part of the standard operation of our mobile site, including mobile device brand and model, mobile operation system and carrier. Except as otherwise explained in this policy, we may combine the information we automatically collect from you (as described above and as described below, under Cookies & Pixel Tracking) with your personal information in order to tailor our website and enhance your online experience by saving your preferences and/or to help identify site features, advertisements and offers that may be of interest to you.

    We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads on our behalf across the Internet. These companies employ cookie and pixel tag technology to measure and improve the effectiveness of ads for their clients.     Our Mobile App uses HTML5 local shared objects to store your preferences, such as if you are a new or returning user, session length and frequency and information youve entered to store within the app. It also tracks if a user has performed certain actions in the app, such as call Roadside Assistance or the Contact Us function. Local shared objects are different from browser cookies because of the amount of, type of, and how data is stored. Our website may also link to a video provider that also uses html 5 to store preferences such as volume control.


    We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

    • To assist you with reserving and renting.
    • To conduct other transactions that you request.
    • To service your account or membership with us, respond to your questions and contact you when necessary.
    • To provide you with discounts, coupons, offers and other information and opportunities and services that may be of interest to you. You may receive these offers in advertising that is directed to you via third party sites and media properties, including social media. You may be able to opt-out if these ads by clicking in an icon in the ad or through the privacy settings in each media property.
    • To assist us in providing better products and services (for example, we may contact you by telephone, mail or email to assist us in evaluating the performance of our staff, to assess the quality of product and service received and to help us improve our Sites, facilities and services).
    • To compile statistics and analysis about our customers use of our Sites, products and services, which statistics are only used to enable us to provide better customer service, products, features and functionality to you and other customers in the future.
    • To help us to operate, maintain and improve our systems and Sites.
    • To allow you to modify or cancel a reservation.

    We provide you the ability to enter your friends name and email address in order for National to send your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit this Website. National stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email.

    We may combine the information that you submit to us with information related to your transactions with us, such as rental location and vehicle type, as well as with information we receive about you from credit reporting agencies and other data providers who assist us in processing requests, maintaining our data and optimizing our marketing and other services. This Privacy Policy applies to data collected via our Websitesand mobile sites, in connection with any transaction, and at our rental locations. If the same information about you is gathered from other sources with different privacy policies, National may elect, in its sole discretion, to treat such information in accordance with the privacy policy that least restricts our use and disclosure of such information.

    We attempt to retain information we collect for commercially reasonable periods of time or in accordance with specific policies or as required by law to be used for statistical, marketing, archiving, and other analytical purposes. Information collected for a specified purpose will only be used for that purpose and, after a reasonable period of time, will no longer be actively stored when that purpose has been fulfilled.



    We may disclose the information we collect from and about you to our subsidiaries and affiliates. Our affiliates and our subsidiary employees in our IT, marketing, operations and customer service divisions may use your information, as described in this policy.     We may also share aggregated or de-identified information about our customers with our advertising and marketing partners, and third party media properties, including social media sites to allow them to send targeted advertising messages on our behalf. With your prior notice and consent, we may share your name and email address with our co-branded partners and affiliates in order to provide the services you have requested and for marketing purposes.     Our Sites include Social Media Features, such as the Facebook button. These Features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our site, and may set a cookie to enable the Feature to function properly.     Our Sites are not directed to, and National does not knowingly collect personal information from, children under the age of 13. We recommend that parents actively participate in their childrens use of the Internet.


    We give you a number of choices about the collection, use and distribution of your information. For example, you must affirmatively request to receive email advertisements from us, our Affiliates and/or business partners concerning information about special offers, promotions and new features, products and services. Every National email advertisement will provide you with the opportunity to remove yourself from our email list. You may choose to opt back in to our email advertisements at anytime, in which your most recent action will prevail. We will give you an opportunity to opt-out of the gathering of your personally identifiable information, specific uses of your personally identifiable information and any marketing promotions in accordance with the procedures set out in the section below, "Correcting or Changing Your Information."
