Find an Activity in Honolulu

Filling an evening or weekend in Honolulu with activities is easy. If you're hoping for some fresh air, go to Diamond Head for some hiking and stellar views of the city. Hanauma Bay is a perfect spot for snorkeling, scuba diving, and other watersports – you may even spot a sea turtle.

There are also several historic sites in Honolulu. Visit Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial to honor the soldiers who fought during the attack in 1941. You can also visit the historic battle ship, USS Missouri, and see the decks where the Japanese officially surrendered, concluding World War II.

Reach Honolulu's Attractions from Honolulu International Airport

Arriving at Honolulu International Airport (HNL), passengers will need to make their way to the first floor to access the baggage claim area for all terminals. It is close to the baggage claim that you can find the National Car Rental counters for Emerald and non-Emerald customers. If you're arriving for business, the Honolulu Convention Center is a 15-minute drive down I-H1. This route will take you right past the downtown area. There you'll find many top-rated restaurants, such as Lucky Belly, which specializes in ramen and Duc's Bistro serving French and Vietnamese cuisine. The former is great for a quick bite and the latter is a more formal choice if you're meeting with a client.

Waikiki is the busiest hotel district on the island and is very close to the convention center. Diamond Head State Monument is just a short drive from there, or you can take a scenic route from the airport to see Pearl Harbor. This trip one way takes approximately 30 minutes. Visitors driving from elsewhere on the island will take I-H1 to reach the downtown area and the southern portion of Oahu.

There are several parking garages on Waikiki and in downtown Honolulu to facilitate a visit here for a bite to eat or a day of sightseeing. You can also find metered spots for quick stops. With the airport's proximity to the downtown area and the island's best attractions, enjoying a trip to Honolulu is easy.
