Traveling to the Queen City for business? There’s a good chance you’ll be heading downtown. There, you’ll find many major businesses with branches in the region, the Duke Energy Convention Center and plenty of restaurants for conducting those more intimate business meetings and sealing the deal with a handshake and a cocktail. Here's everything you need to know to plan for a fun, stress-free, and productive trip.

Easy Access to the Action Downtown

Once you've landed at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG), hop on the shuttle from Baggage Claim to the car rental lots and find the National Car Rental Center. Check into your preferred hotel — most of the major chains have locations downtown or in Covington, just across the Ohio River — and rest easy knowing you're minutes from the Duke Energy Convention Center and some of the city's most popular attractions.

History Around Every Corner

Did you know the Cincinnati Reds were the first professional franchise in baseball? Take in a game at the Great American Ball Park. It'ss been the team's home since 2003, but there's plenty to remind you of the past, including remembrances of Crosley field, where it all started in 1912.

The Cincinnati Zoo has its own claim on history. It's the second-oldest zoo in the United States, dating back to 1875, making it just 14 months younger than the Philadelphia Zoo. It's also one of the best-regarded zoos in the country, with renowned birthing and endangered species programs, and some awards for sustainability. The 65-acre property is also home to a Botanical Garden. So, you can definitely soak up a lot of nature in one trip.

You'll see another side of the nation's history at the Underground Railroad Freedom Center. The exhibits provide an impactful education for those interested not only in the Underground Railroad but also in the broader African American experience. The permanent Rosa Parks exhibit is well worth the addition to your general admission ticket.

When you get hungry, follow the locals to Findlay Market. It's open seven days a week and is the perfect place to sample Cincinnati's famous barbecue from Eli's. Vendors sell meats, produce, and specialty items, but there are also plenty of options for visitors looking for a taste of local cuisine.
