Revival

Jump in your rental car and head 20 minutes east of the city to Revival, one of three Atlanta-area restaurants by James Beard Award nominee and Top Chef alum, Chef Kevin Gillespie. Housed in a renovated Victorian family farmhouse, Revival offers bites straight from the chef’s southern heritage. Feast on classic down-home cuisine inspired by Gillespie’s grandmother, including fried chicken, meatloaf, fried catfish, collard greens and cornbread. Don’t forget the mac and cheese topped with potato chips — just like Kevin’s grandma used to make. Northside Tavern

The Northside Tavern has been an Atlanta blues landmark for nearly 50 years. Not only has it been named a top bar in Atlanta, numerous publications have called Northside Tavern one of the best dive bars in America. Located on Atlanta’s westside, this gritty bar, complete with a wall of fame featuring iconic musicians, offers live blues, jazz and roots music seven days a week. In addition to their house band, Mudcat, and an amazing lineup of acts, you may get lucky and catch an unexpected guest performer. Recently during a casual weekday night with local band Breeze Kings, legendary drummer Sam Lay, who once toured with Bob Dylan and Muddy Waters, surprised the crowd with an unforgettable performance.
